New name will build on more than 130 years of brand equity

BB&T Insurance Holdings, a subsidiary of BB&T Corp., today announced a rebranding for its BB&T Insurance Services of California retail broker.
BB&T Insurance Services of California began doing business today as “McGriff Insurance Services.” The rebranding comes on the heels of the same name change for the former BB&T Insurance Services last June.
The McGriff name, with long-standing recognition in the insurance industry, comes from affiliate McGriff, Seibels & Williams.
"This is a name that goes back to 1886, and we’re excited to build on the brand equity and recognition associated with this industry leader – now in California and all 16 states where we do business,” said Rick Ulmer, president and chief executive officer of the Retail Insurance Division for BB&T Insurance Holdings.
“This is about the seamless delivery of vast resources we’ll now be able to provide to all 300,000 clients from coast to coast under one brand."
The rebranding for BB&T’s national Insurance operations follows the acquisition last year of Regions Insurance Group and its 31 offices across the Southeast, Texas and Indiana.
“This has really been the ideal timeframe for us to rebrand our company,” said Michael Martini, president of McGriff Insurance Services (California). “The unified McGriff Insurance Services will now offer even greater client-facing resources and industry knowledge. We look forward to operating under a single united brand that is recognized and respected by the insurance industry, clients and partners."
Martini said expanded client services will include business and individual insurance, employee benefits, risk management with specialty offerings in agribusiness, construction, behavioral health care, architecture and engineering, and entertainment.
McGriff Insurance Services operates California agencies in San Diego, Pleasanton, Irvine, San Ramon, San Jose, Anaheim and San Francisco.
The brand transition includes a new logo with an updated version of the McGriff name, as well as an updated color palette, fonts and other design elements.
